On Thursday 18 April 2013 President of South Africa Jacob Zuma will with social partners be publically signing the Youth Employment Accord. As part of the process, recruitment portal company Lulaway has been asked to attend in its capacity as a recruitment partner.
The government through the Department of Health and Social Development has recognised that employments is a problem in South Africa and are at the forefront of combating unemployment with its use of the Lulaway online recruitment platform by providing corporates with direct access to entry level and semi-skilled workers.
In his State of the Nation address, the President asked labour, business and society to discuss youth employment incentives. Following the successful conclusion of discussions of a youth employment strategy the Youth Employment Accord was captured during February 2013.
The public launch of the Accord will be signed by President Jacob Zuma on 18 April at 2013 at 11:00 at the Hector Pieterson Memorial, in Orlando, Soweto.
The Minister of Economic Development has personally invited business partners to attend and the accord will be co-signed by the social partners.
“It is an honour to be invited to this prestigious event,” says Errol Freeman, MD of Lulaway.
“And a privilege to be able to invite the corporate companies that utilise our services. Between us and Godisang we are taking 60 of the youth that have been employed with us that manage the process to the signing and they are amongst the brightest minds in South Africa.”
“The opening of the first centre in Klipspruit (Soweto) was a watershed moment last year, and there are now 14 Government sponsored Lulaway recruitment centres open in South Africa with six more earmarked to be opened.
More than 600 people over the last six months have been gainfully employed. Although this is not the total sum of people employed through our system, the 600 can be attributed to the Government directly,” comments Errol.
