Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has announced the launch of solid-state drive (SSD) servers in co-operation with Intel. The SSD servers use new-generation Intel SSDs, which solves storage bottlenecks, improves server performance, and enables realtime access to massive data for users.
The rapid development of cloud computing, big data, HPC, and other data centre applications boost requirements for realtime data access. For enterprises that are sensitive to market trends, data is the service itself.
Besides the challenge of big data, the other challenge is the requirements for realtime access to the big data. To balance requirements of big data and realtime access and provide optimal server performance, Huawei released the solution with SSD servers.
“Computer technologies are making breakthroughs, and the new advanced technologies help enhance computer performance and improve user experience. Because of the rapid read speed and channel locating, the SSDs, as the system disks, shorten the time for startup and program loading,” says GM of Huawei Servers, Qiu Long.
“As the primary system storage devices, the SSDs store hot data such as data indexes, frequently accessed data lists or temporary storage areas, and log files, greatly improving system operating efficiency. To meet the requirements of high IOPS for core applications, such as database applications, the PCIe SSD cards are used to achieve high IOPS and low latency.
“Huawei SSD servers successfully solve the bottlenecks of data transmission and speed limits of traditional hard disks, and the accelerated storage performance increases storage throughput for concurrent multithreaded computing. This shortens application response time and provides a smooth user experience.”
“The service capability of data centres is determined by the balanced development of computing capability and storage capability. The data explosion poses a unique challenge for the storage systems of data centres. The storage solutions based on traditional hard disks become the bottleneck,” says Bill Liu, marketing director of the SSD Product at Intel Corporation.
“The high latency and poor storage I/O performance impair data centres’ response capability for big data, cloud computing, and mobile applications. The new-generation Intel SSD DC S3700 series solves the problems caused by the hard disk bottlenecks that limit data centres’ service capabilities, remarkably improving SSD performance by providing stable performance, excellent durability, and data protection.
“In particular, the write performance is increased by 1 500%, which enables data centre applications to improve their service capabilities by using the Intel SSD DC S3700. Huawei SSD servers that use the Intel® SSD DC S3700 lead the development trend.”
