Westcon Security customers can now take immediate advantage of Dell Software’s largest release of its SonicOS operating system for the Dell SonicWALL Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) and unified threat management (UTM), by way of SonicOS 5.9.
According to Andrew Potgieter, business practice director at Westcon Security Solutions, the new Dell SonicWALL SonicOS 5.9 includes more than 45 new feature enhancements. These enhancements include a host of new features and capabilities that enable advanced networking features, enhance control for ?network administrators and improve end-user experience.
“The latest release of the SonicOS now offers customers a solution that provides superior threat prevention, intrusion prevention and application ?control for IPv6 enabled networks,” states Potgieter.
“The release enables our SonicWALL customers, from small through to enterprise and public sector organisations, to benefit from features such as enhanced DLP with regular expressions, clustering support, new CLI, enhanced wireless capabilities, and deep security protection amongst others.”
According to Dell, significant enhancements of the product includes:
* Advanced protection for IPv6 networks provides support for deep packet inspection of IPv6 traffic flows;
* Enhanced Clean Wireless capabilities assuring wireless traffic is secured using the same deep-packet inspection engine protecting the wired portions of their network;
* Consolidation of advanced networking, deployment and management features; and
* Increased productivity for wireless networks includes features such as traffic quotas and enhanced guest services to reduce administrative burdens.
“The real benefit for customers deploying SonicOS 5.9 is that it simplifies the management and deployment of Dell SonicWALL firewalls. It boasts a range of new features that address changing security threats and requires less administration time from IT departments,” ends Potgieter.
According to the company customers with valid support contracts for Dell SonicWALL Next-Generation Firewalls or Unified Threat Management appliances can move to the SonicOS 5.9 platform at no additional cost.
