According to a report released by leading market research institute Strategy Analytics, LG is one of the leaders in the global mobile market.
LG Electronics marked the biggest growth rate in the smartphone market during the third quarter, by shipping 12-million units.
This is up 71,4% from the same period last year. The growth rate is reportedly higher than the annual growth rate of Chinese competitors Lenovo and Huawei, standing at 68,8% and 67,1%, respectively. LG outdid their competitors in the handset market in terms of growth rate, by selling 183 million units in the third quarter this year, up 27,1% year-on-year.
In November, the latest smartphone in the LG mobile range, the LG G2, will be available to the South Africa market. This phone has received favourable reviews globally. This includes the world’s biggest-selling gadget magazine, Stuff Magazine, awarding the LG G2 not only a full five stars, but gave it the number one spot on its smartphones Top Ten.
Locally, the media has been abuzz since the launch event with Tech Central saying it is a strong competitor and performs brilliantly.
Deon Prinsloo, GM for LG Mobile, says, “For many years, South African and global markets have been waiting for a mobile phone that suits their personal and business needs. LG Mobile SA is extremely excited about bringing this phone to South Africa and we have no doubt it will receive the same positive reviews locally as it did in international markets.”
The LG G2 will be officially available at MTN, Cell C and Vodacom outlets as of 1 November 2013.
