By Mark Davison – After more than six months in the wilderness, one of the local IT channel’s most respected executives, Pierre Spies, is returning to the realm he relishes – as CEO of one of the country’s biggest distributors.
Following lengthy negotiations, Spies has agreed to take up the position of CEO of Pinnacle Africa, effective 1 June next year.
Spies, who resigned as CEO of MB Technologies’ flagship Tarsus in May this year after 21 years with the company, is currently a consultant to MB Tech on a one-year contract. He will take up his new role at Pinnacle Africa once this contract has expired.
Spies replaces current Pinnacle Africa CEO Louis Fourie, who will now focus on operations within the group. Tim Humphreys-Davis remains in his position as MD of Pinnacle Africa which he was appointed to in May of this year.
“I am really looking forward to the new challenge presented to me at Pinnacle Africa,” Spies says. “And I’m relishing the prospect of working with a formidable team that has built up a fantastic track record over the last five years.”
Humphreys-Davis says that Spies will report directly to Henry Ferreira, head of Distribution for group company Pinnacle Technology Holdings.
“We are really excited about Pierre joining Pinnacle Africa,” says Humphreys-Davis. “He has a wealth of experience and a proven track record in distribution which will help us to grow the business and execute our future strategies.
“He is a huge asset to the group and brings with him a great deal of value to the business,” he adds.
