Absa has committed to extended festive season trading hours every year, following a successful trial last year.
During the festive season, selected Absa branches located in shopping malls nationwide will have their operating hours extended to include Saturday and Sunday trading on an annual basis to accommodate predicted increase in seasonal demand for financial services and offer convenience to customers over this period.
This follows a four-week trial of these extended hours that helped ease banking for Absa customers during the holiday season last year.
The bank said this year extended services would remain in place until 12 January 2014.
Saturday banking at selected branches, particularly malls, have been changed to 8:30 to 14:00pm, instead of the normal trading hours (8:00am to 11:00am) and Sundays from 9:00am to 13:00pm throughout the period and aligning with the respective mall activities in the regions.
Absa’s head of retail banking, Arrie Rautenbach, comments: ““We realise that the demand for access to financial services and products on non-traditional banking days during the festive break increases. For this reason, allowing for flexibility during the holiday season at the end of each year will accommodate seasonal demand for all branch banking services required as most people make their way to their various holiday destinations.”
