McAfee has added its full portfolio of products to its managed services offering, as it expects this model to see massive growth as customers switch to security as a service rather than a product.
McAfee’s channel development director for EMEA, Cristiano Voschion, urges channel partners to consider switching to the MSP model to ensure they meet the future needs of their customers.
The MSP offering was launched in South Africa just last year, but Voschion tells IT-Online that South African partners have taken to the model “surprisingly well” and have had some significant successes in implementing it.
McAfee first offered its products via MSP just two years ago, with a handful of offerings. With the wide acceptance from both customers and partners, it has now included all of its solutions in the MSP model.
The company announces today that McAfee appliances will be offered to Managed Service Providers via a pay-as-you-go based model, helping them to deliver a broader and compelling range of managed security Services on a more shared risk basis.
The McAfee MSP Program will now include access to McAfee Next Generation Firewall, McAfee Enterprise Security Manager, McAfee Network Security Platform, and McAfee Advanced Threat Defense.
In addition, McAfee is expanding the number of software products available via its MSP Program to include its portfolio of authentication solutions.
Voschion explains that customers today are faced with more complexity in terms of security threats and compliance issues, so they prefer their security to be managed by one trusted partner through an MSP model.
In fact, MSP security is set to grow about 35%, while traditional security product sales will decline about 30% over the same period, he adds.
“This is a huge opportunity for partners. They have realised they cannot any longer do business the way they did five years ago.”
Many MSPs are now delivering Managed Security Services on an on-demand or subscription basis to help meet customer needs.
McAfee is responding to these market changes by expanding its MSP program to embrace the growing need of MSPs to have access to a broader range of technologies and also commercial models that do not result in them taking 100% of the risk.
“Security deployment models are shifting and the demand for Managed Services deployments amongst enterprises continue to expand for all types of security technologies,” says Gavin Struthers, senior vice-president of worldwide channels at McAfee. “This demand is being driven by customer needs and corresponding channel partner expectations.
“McAfee continues to evolve our MSP program to address the security deployment trends to meet the needs of our customers and channel partners. The introduction of these technologies to our MSP program will allow our partners to expand their portfolio and differentiate themselves while generating additional revenue opportunities.”
