Cell C has launched three new products under its Infinity brand, with call rates starting at just 99 cents per minute – and with the top-end product offering an annual upgrade.
In addition, damaged or broken phones will be replaced immediately for high end customers spending R1 800.00 per month,
This is expected to attract high value customers on to the Cell C network on an Infinity Select contract, which offers unlimited calls to any network, anytime unlimited SMSs and 3Gb of data per month over 24 months.
In addition, customers can choose any handset available from Cell C, although some iPhones will attract an additional charge.
“The smartphone market has a fast-paced turnover of new devices,” says Jose dos Santos, acting CEO of Cell C, commenting on the promise to swop out damaged handsets plus offering annual upgrades. “Cell C wanted to give our customers the option of upgrading their devices as the manufacturers bring in new ones.”
Another product is designed to attract mid-tier customers, who can sign up for a R999.00 per month Infinity contract but opt out after one month. This contract assumes customers already have a handset, and offers the same voice, SMS and data availability as the Infinity Select offering.
The third product is for pre-paid customers, offering them a number of contract benefits. Infinity Prepaid let users make any number of calls to any network at any time of day, 1 000 SMSs and 1Gb of data.
The company has also launched its Hi5 offering, where customers can connect to five friends of less for 75 cents per minute.
With the same benefits as Cell C’s Straight Up contracts, Hi5 customers will pay R150.00 per month for 150 anytime, any network minutes, 150 SMSes and 150Mb of data. In addition, they can register five numbers of the Cell C network that will receive a preferential rate of 75c per minute on per second billing.
“This 75s call rate to registered numbers of guaranteed for the life of the contract and is not subject to expiry rules in the fine print of the contract,” says Dos Santos.
From 15 Match, Cell C will open its new walk-in customer care centre at its new campus in Buccleauch.
It will use the centre to launch new deals, and is planning one per month for at least the first year.
