Westcon-Comztek’s vendor partner gateprotect Germany has announced the release of its Software Version 9.4 of its firewall, providing enhanced security features for its next generation firewalls.
Clients of Westcon-Comztek will now have access to a perfect shield against current and future cyber threats in the form of gateprotect firewall version 9.4 with its significantly faster antivirus scan, extended reporting and the possibility of integrating a wireless network into the firewall.
According to Alex van Zyl, channel manager for gateprotect at Westcon-Comztek, gateprotect version 9.4 will provide Westcon-Comztek’s partners with the ability to provide clients with innovative modern security mechanisms including antivirus scanning, accelerated by up to 15 percent, a Reverse Proxy function in the backend, as well as an easy to operate Administration Client that is compatible with Windows 8.
What is new is that the firewall itself may operate and configure a W¬LAN network. All models of the GPO hardware series for small and medium sized companies may be enhanced to form a W¬LAN access point by means of an optional new module.
IT managers will now have a faster and improved overview of the security station within the company. Reporting has been further enhanced and administrators are able to generate danger reports quickly and easily that show, for example, if and where certain types of attacks from the outside have been fended off at the firewall and where action is most pertinent.
In addition, the security of remote access for the interconnection of branch offices and home offices has been increased. The VPN client of the new version is now also able to recognise certificates on smartcards.
This second factor of user identification increases the security significantly when logging into the network. Hundreds of VPN connections can now be protected more efficiently – and administered in an even safer manner – with the firewall software version 9.4.
