Minister of Communications Yunus Carrim and Deputy Minister of Communications Stella Tembisa Ndabeni, in partnership with the Department of Basic Education, Telkom and Intel, will launch the 2010 Fifa World Cup Legacy Project on the schools e-connectivity in Botshabelo, Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, Free State this week.
The Department of Communications (DoC) developed a connectivity programme that will ensure the provision of broadband connectivity to 1 650 schools as part of the Department’s key priorities. About 125 of these are the Dinaledi schools.
Telkom, as the main sponsor, will provide the technology at all these schools, while Intel will train the teachers at the selected schools at no cost. The teachers will then become the master trainers responsible for the various schools.
