LG Electronics (LG) launched its LG G2 smartphone in South Africa late last year. As of April, the G2 will also be available in red in South Africa. It retains the comfortable, functional and convenient design, but in a vibrant colour.

The LG G2 Red will share some of the same features as the LG G2, including the first-of-its-kind Rear Key design, its extraordinary 5,2-inch full HD IPS display, 13MP camera with OIS technology, studio quality sound and a user experience that can’t easily be compared with that of other smartphones.

The Rear Key gives users more control as it’s situated where the index fingers are naturally located. The 5,2-inch Full HD display ensures that the LG G2 Red has the largest display screen designed for one-handed operation.

With the IPS technology, the LG G2 Red offers superior graphics, accurate colours and clear images without distortion. It also has a generous 3,000mAh battery, which makes the LG G2 more than ready for a full day’s work or play.

The LG G2’s high resolution camera comes standard with Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS) technology. This ensures that pictures don’t blur and allows for brighter and sharper images when in motion or in dim environments.

Users expect their smartphones to be their personal entertainment centres on the go and the LG G2 does not disappoint. It features a 24 bit/192kHz HiFi playback that reproduces studio-like quality sound.

The most often used smartphone features are the most basic ones that users often take for granted such as SMS, social networking, and of course, making phone calls.

The LG G2 comes with a number of user experience (UX) features that provide the most practical value by focusing on a smartphone’s most popular tasks:

* Answer me – automatically answers the call after lowering the ringtone when the phone is raised to one’s ear.
* Plug & Pop – recommends options or related features to choose from when the earphone or USB cable is detected.
* Text link – allows information embedded in text messages to be selected and easily saved in a memo or calendar and search on a map or the Internet.
* QuickRemote – not only can LG G2 be used to remotely control popular home entertainment devices, it can also learn from conventional remotes and be customised to operate multiple devices with flexible layouts and keys.
* Slide Aside – enables easier multitasking by simply “sliding” open apps off to the side using a three-finger swipe.
* Guest Mode – protects owner’s privacy by displaying only pre-selected apps when guests access the phone with a secondary unlock pattern.
