As one of the largest banks in South Africa, security is a top priority for FNB. When the camera system at the bank’s Fairland building reached end of life, increasing security risks and adding to operational costs, upgrading it became paramount. FNB turned to Jasco Security and the latest version of the Bosch Video Management System (VMS) to provide the solution.
The Bosch VMS was selected as the product of choice for the upgrade. This system offers a flexible IP security system architecture that is easily scalable and easy to manage, supporting up to 2000 high definition and standard definition cameras on a single system.
After identifying the required solution, FNB went out on tender to select a supplier that would meet all of their requirements. Jasco was one of five shortlisted suppliers, and was eventually selected based on the tender specifications provided, including Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) rating, pricing and additional services and expertise.
Jasco supplied and installed the Bosch VMS over the course of a week in late 2013, with changeover conducted over the weekend to minimise disruption. Jasco also provided integration services with the access control system, and is offering on-going support and maintenance for one year.
“The upgraded Bosch VMS solution has enabled FNB to leverage a number of benefits over and above the requirement for reduced operational costs and maintenance. In addition to enhanced security through improved reliability and greater storage capacity, this system provides an element of future-proofing, as it will enable FNB to take advantage of upcoming 4K UHD video technology,” says Shaun Bubb, new business manager at Jasco Security.
