Digital media are taking off as media for marketing and communication – but print is far from dead.
This is the word from Canon, which yesterday announced the results of research undertaken in Africa and South Africa regarding the future of print.
James de Waal, sales and marketing manager at Canon SA, says that a whopping 92% of buyers say that professional print is still a critical part of their businesses. “We have all heard that print is dead, but this shows that the huge majority of buyers don’t think so,” De Waal says.
In addition, 87% of respondents say they have experienced an increase in print materials, with 84% expecting this increase to continue.
“This shows that print remains important to buyers,” he says.
Print providers are also bullish: 90% of providers expect print to remain as important as it currently is – or to become more important.
“Print is seen as a critical way reaching the wider population in South Africa,” De Waal points out.
