The votes are in, the judges have decided and this year’s top apps have been named.
The annual MTN Business App of the Year awards celebrating local talent and highlighting the innovation of South African developers was held in Johannesburg last night with LIVE Inspect walking away with the App of the Year award.
“The submissions were of exceptional quality making the competition intense. The independent panel of judges really had their work cut out for them in selecting the winners. However, this shows that the mobile developer talent pool in South Africa is increasing every year and the country can compete with the best in the world,” says

All the category winners are:
* Best iOS App (Consumer) – SuperSport;
* Best iOS App (Enterprise) – SyncMobile;
* Best Android App (Consumer) – My Belongings;
* Best Android App (Enterprise) – LIVE Inspect;
* Best App use of Microsoft Cloud Services – Vigo;
* Best App for the Microsoft Platform – Zapper;
* Best Garage Developer App – Rea Vaya; and
* Most Innovative App –Wildlife tracker.
“Since MTN started its involvement with the awards in 2012, the operator has been excited by the variety of applications and innovations that South African developers are coming up with. The winners have really been a cut above the rest and have shown just what is possible using mobile apps,” Lambotharan says.
