Data Centre Central is a new conference and expo which has been launched to address the unique economic, engineering and legislative aspects of designing and operating a data centre in South Africa.
The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Rosebank, Johannesburg on 30 October 2014.

“Our research showed that people working across South Africa’s data centre sector agreed on the need for an event, but felt it should fulfil an important role to educate the market, share best practices and build a sense of community,” says event organiser Jacqui Gradwell.

“Because Data Centre Central has been developed for South Africa by South Africans, it has quickly garnered the support of leading local manufacturers, service providers and operators.”

Data Centre Central combines a packed and informative seminar programme with one of the largest dedicated expos ever brought together under a single roof in Johannesburg. Four conference streams will deliver a mix of opinion and comment from leading thinkers in South Africa’s data centre industry, covering:

* Metrics and standards (facilitated by Lee Smith of Dee Smith & Associates);
* The shift of the infrastructure market, changes in technology and trends, and the impact in South Africa and Africa (led by Baxolile Mabinya of Dimension Data);
* Global Megatrends (presented by Gareth Mellon of Frost & Sullivan); and
* South Africa’s Power Base (with Eskom’s, André de Klerk ).

Gradwell continues, “Major data centre decisions bring together an ecosystem of professionals to ensure the best solution and optimise ROI. Data Centre Central reflects this market requirement as well as the evolving needs of data centre management and engineering professionals, financial management, property and facility managers, IT management and business leaders including CEOs, CFOs and CIOs.”

Current sponsors and exhibitors at Data Centre Central include Austin Hughes, Bergvik, CA Technologies, Cummins Delta Electronics, Dimension Data, Emerson Network Power, Nlyte Software, Plessey Limited, RT Systems, Raritan, Schneider Electric, UTC Fire and Security, Datanet, Bluebox, Rittal and XON.
