The MB Technologies Group (MBT) has acquired a majority shareholding in Yeahpoint, a leading software development company that focuses on digital media and interactive technologies.

Following an outright buyout of Yeahpoint’s global operations two months ago, Yeahpoint Africa will now form part of the MB Technologies Group, which Miles Crisp, MBT Group CEO, says is in line with its move towards providing a more integrated service offering.

“The acquisition of Yeahpoint is another step on the way to the strategic development of MBT’s new ‘total solutions’ proposition. Here, due to the increasing competitiveness within the local technology distribution business, the aim is to shift the business model to one that is more responsive and focuses on adding value to our customers through bringing additional capabilities into the group,” he comments.

As a pioneer in self-service technology, Danny de Beer, Managing Director of Yeahpoint Africa, believes their unique solutions will also do much to ensure MBT remains at the forefront of innovative application development.

“An important part of our focus on a relationship-based service offering means that when it comes to providing our clients with solutions we want to be able to walk the entire journey with them.

“This is a key differentiator as we contribute to the entire digital strategy including social media and, following application development, the team is actively involved in content management thereby ensuring clients are provided with a total and on-going service solution,” he adds.

De Beer says another differentiator is the strong security element that underlies each application development which SecureData, another recent group addition, will bring to the party.

“With everything designed and developed in-house, being able to leverage off the solutions provided by other group members will do much to enhance the total value proposition Yeahpoint takes to market.

“Here not only will strong security be a key feature but, through retaining a comprehensive reporting element where we are able to measure every touch for the client, we believe our solution will address a substantial gap in the business market where companies are grappling with the vulnerability of vital corporate data on company-and employee-owned mobile devices” he explains.

Going forward, Crisp believes that there remains strong growth potential globally; the focus for now will remain on growing the local business.

“Yeahpoint’s multi-platform solutions are developed for tablets (IOS Windows & Android), touch screens and unattended kiosks, as well as motion sensors, biometrics and analytics, and continue to assist in streamlining the retail process and adding real value to the total consumer experience. Making this type of revolutionary self-service technology a reality for South African consumers will remain a key focal point as we believe there is still so much to be done here,” he concludes.
