More and more users are encountering adware and spyware on their PCs or laptops, which is causing serious problems as these invasions can render many computers unusable.
This is according to Christopher Riley, CEO of The Notebook Company, who comments: “Over the last five years we have seen a massive increase in incidents like this – where adware and spyware take over a computer – causing almost irreparable damage.”
He says a “significant portion” of clients now approach his company to remove these software viruses – as opposed to bringing in computers for normal repairs, or updates.
It is possible that it is now achieving epidemic levels – certainly among the users which The Notebook Company serves.
“Clients bring in computers which are literally unusable. We then run a low level format of the drive – and reinstall from scratch. Thus far we have had a 100% success rate and no users have had to dump their machines and buy new ones.
“But the invasions are getting more and more malicious – and the recovery is getting harder and harder- which is not good news at all. I don’t see this situation getting better any time soon,” Riley says.
