Altech, a division of Altron TMT has been named as a winner in the Africa Best Employer Brand Awards 2014. The awards presentation was held in Mauritius.

The award recognises Altech for the importance it has placed in attracting and engaging the people it requires to deliver profitable growth and in creating a positive brand experience for its employees.

The awards nomination process is overseen by the Employer Branding Institute and nominations for the award are based on recommendations from an independent group of industry researchers which are then submitted to a judging panel.

Employer branding is a critical internal and external tool for businesses to promote themselves as an employer of choice – specifically with respect to talent attraction, engagement and retention strategies.

Award winners were judged on the following criteria:

* Creating a culture of contribution and innovation in the workplace.

* Belief in consistent improvement in human resource policy by measuring organisational health and instilling values that help to achieve the organisational vision.

* Being a social and equal opportunity employer.

* Developing and nurturing future leaders.

* Being exemplary in learning and development initiatives.

* Communicating distinctiveness in employee hiring, training and retention practices.

* Continuous innovation.

According to Johan Klein, Altron TMT group executive: Corporate Services: “The heartbeat of any organisation is its people. At Altron TMT it is simply not enough to source talent, but rather to retain and nurture quality talent to ensure the organisation runs optimally.”

The award consisted of a trophy and a citation acknowledging the value of the Altech brand as an employer of choice in its sector.
