Cyberoam, the leading global provider of network security appliances, today announced its Layer-8 user-identity based Firewall has achieved Common Criteria certification at Evaluation Assurance Level 4+ (EAL4+).
Common Criteria is an international set of standards (ISO/IEC 15408) that provides a common framework for evaluating security features and capabilities of Information Technology (IT) security products. EAL4+ is therefore the highest assurance level that is recognised globally. The certificate was awarded to Cyberoam at the International Common Criteria Conference held in Orlando from September 10-12, 2013.

“With Common Criteria EAL4+, we have gone a step further in strengthening our focus and presence in enterprise and government organisations,” says Abhilash Sonwane, Cyberoam’s senior VP of Product Management.

“This achievement reinforces our commitment to deliver our customers network security appliances that are evaluated against the industry’s highest security standards, thus meeting their evolving security needs. At the same time, this certification gives our channel partners greater confidence to take Cyberoam’s security offerings to more customers in enterprise and government segments.”

Towards the successful attainment of the Common Criteria certification, Cyberoam worked with certification consulting company Corsec Security and Epoche & Espri’s accredited Common Criteria lab to complete the evaluation.

Cyberoam chose to partner with Corsec Security, a documentation and project management company that leads its customers through the Common Criteria certification process.

“Common Criteria EAL4+ certification is a great achievement for the Cyberoam team,” says Matthew Appler, CEO of Corsec Security.

“Going through the certification process is a huge commitment. Although certification can be challenging, Cyberoam wanted to ensure their European and U.S. commercial customers that they were receiving not only a superior product, but one that meets some of the highest security standards. Achieving EAL4+ certification is a giant step in the right direction.”

“Epoche & Espri labs is pleased to support Cyberoam’s commitment to provide Common Criteria certified next-generation network security solutions to worldwide customers,” says Miguel Banon, GM at Epoche & Espri’s IT Security Evaluation and Test Facility.

“Cyberoam’s quality and security level stood up to rigorous testing evaluation needs and with their high level of professionalism allowed completing the evaluation in a record time,” he adds.

This accomplishment adds another significant recognition in Cyberoam’s existing list of industry certifications and network security technology credentials, which include ISO 20000: 2011 certification for quality driven IT Service management, UTM Level 5 Checkmark Certification and ICSA Labs Firewall Certification among others.
