Distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) has announced the addition of globally acclaimed FireEye Cyber Security and Malware Protection solutions and services to its comprehensive portfolio of security tools and software.
FireEye is the world leader in addressing zero day attacks – a threat that attacks a previously unknown vulnerability – and Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), detecting attacks as they happen and providing the tools and support necessary to quickly contain and resolve incidents.
“FireEye is a set of security solutions that has evolved to tackle a new generation of cyber threats. Unlike traditional software, FireEye addresses unknown threats and new attacks that do not yet have signature indicators that can be identified by traditional security technology. These threats are typically highly targeted and able to bypass signature-based solutions and sandboxes – a security technique that isolates programmes to attack or malicious code from damaging your device – where they then wreak havoc within corporate networks,” says Fred Mitchell, Software Division Manager at DCC.
“Incorporating the FireEye solution and service offering into our portfolio allows us to offer resellers and their enterprise customers another layer of security, essential in preventing cyber-attacks and avoiding their detrimental business effects,” Mitchell adds.
“DCC has a strong and established name in the market as well as a good understanding of where FireEye fits into the security architecture. We at FireEye appreciate a partner that plans strategically and understands that the distribution landscape needs to change according to the changing security landscape. DCC is forward-thinking and innovative which will accelerate our expansion into the Southern African market,” says Deon La Grange, Regional Manager: Sub Sahara Africa (SSA) at FireEye South Africa.
FireEye works with proprietary Adaptive Defence architecture, which continuously detects, prevents, analyses and responds to threats. This technology detects cyber threats in a matter of minutes that other security tools may miss, preventing many cyber-attacks instantly and stopping them before they can cause lasting damage.
FireEye analyses network traffic, files, email, and endpoint activity for a full view of the environment so that organisations can see clearly which systems are affected and what the impact of a breach is. It then responds quickly to attacks to remove the threat without disrupting operations.
“The threat landscape is constantly evolving, and since 2013 there have been 19 zero day attacks discovered in the world. Of these attacks, 14 were discovered by FireEye alone; and the five that were identified by other security companies were all environments where FireEye had not been deployed,” says La Grange.
“With traditional security solutions, it can take approximately 229 days according to the Mandiant M-Trends Report 2014, to detect an attack, and more than a month after that for remediation. FireEye is a complete reimagining of cyber security that is able to go from detection to validation to containment within 10 minutes when deployed at the network and the end point. It also has a near-zero false positive ratio, providing actionable items, visibility and intelligence to help organisations bolster their cyber security solutions,” La Grange adds.
DCC will be offering the complete FireEye solution set, including Threat Prevention Platforms, Threat Intelligence, services and support. Threat Prevention Platforms incorporate network, email, content and endpoint security. Cloud-based platforms cover email and mobile threat prevention as well as a threat analytics platform.
FireEye also offers enterprise and endpoint forensics as well as forensic analysis and a managed security service, FireEye as a Service. Services and support on offer from DCC include compromise assessment, incident response assurance, response readiness assessment and managed defence, which incorporates three levels of offering: continuous monitoring, continuous protection and continuous vigilance. In order to facilitate the deployment of services, DCC will also act as a training partner for FireEye, to ensure resellers are able to install and maintain the solution effectively.
“FireEye is a unique offering on the market which collaborates with traditional security solutions to fill the gaps and create comprehensive cyber security. It is easy to deploy, run and maintain without being resource intensive, and fulfils a growing need for dynamic, proactive security,” Mitchell concludes.
