Students from the Durban University of Technology (DUT) will now be able to receive their exam results electronically. This is possible due to the implementation of a solution called ITS InfoSlips for Students, from Adapt IT a leading technology solutions and services company listed on the JSE.
The ITS InfoSlips for Students solution is an interactive, electronic, push-delivery document, distributed to stakeholders of an institution as a secure email attachment, or to other electronic devices, such as smart phones and tablets.

It offers institutions an extremely secure method to communicate cost-effectively with its stakeholders, be it students, employees or other third party clients of the institution. The product is the ideal way to communicate with a large number of students on a regular basis and replaces expensive and time intensive paper-based communication.

The ITS InfoSlips for Students solution is customised for the Durban University of Technology corporate identity and is further personalised for each student. As a first phase, it will only communicate exam results.

However, the overall product caters for the communication of a variety of other information in one consolidated document, for example, student invoices; registration information; progress reports and even outstanding library books. ITS InfoSlips for Students can include a number of user-friendly, rich elements, such as text, graphs, video and sound. Content is not restricted to a specific campus management system.

“In keeping abreast with the latest technology, DUT has embarked on the implementation of ITS InfoSlips for Students. We believe it will make the communication of a student’s individual exam results much easier.
“The product caters for a multi-campus environment, which means we do not have to print the exam results and distribute documents to individual campuses,” says Vikesh Ravjee, project manager of ITS InfoSlips for Students at DUT.

Ravjee continues: “ITS InfoSlips for Students has already been used in June, to distribute first semester examination results for all departments within the Faculty of EBE (Engineering and the Built Environment) and the Department of Information Technology in the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics. We are planning to roll out the solution to the entire DUT student community by the end of 2013.”

ITS InfoSlips for Students has also been implemented by The University of Johannesburg for the distribution of a student’s academic information (such as records, bursaries, exam timetables, class rosters and graduation detail), statement information and generic university communication.
