Esquire Technologies has signed a southern African distribution agreement with Oplink Connected, a division of Oplink Communications.
Esquire Technologies is an international award winning company and one of the leading distributors in southern Africa of IT, mobility, digital and consumer lifestyle products from international vendors, with branches in Midrand, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
Oplink has revolutionised the home security industry, integrating surveillance, video recording, and alert notification, connecting to – and operated by – smartphones. The company’s solutions enable everyone to have the peace of mind that not only comes from a home security system, but also safety, automation and home-health solutions that adapt to a mobile, connected lifestyle.
At the epicentre of the Oplink Connected system is the Oplink Cloud, an advanced cloud computing architecture that enables safe, reliable, secure communication between the customer and his home – no matter where he is. Running off Android, iOS and Windows Phone-based smartphones, this technology provides true plug and play functionality, and can be installed by just about anyone in around 15 minutes.
“These unique differentiators eliminate the need for professional installation and long-term service contracts, enabling Oplink to offer a powerful yet affordable home security system without the cost, complexity, and commitment required by cable providers, phone companies, and big-brand alarm companies.
“It is essentially a full DIY kit and, which can be loaded on a person’s tablet or smartphone, from where the end user can monitor all the zones and automatically pinpoint if there is a problem in any of the connected zones,” said Freddy Ting, GM for the Asia Pacific at Oplink Connected.
Asgar Mahomed, MD of Esquire Technologies, said the Oplink solution fits snugly into the company’s security division, which has shown robust growth in the last three years.
He says Esquire is also looking at developing a bundled kit with sister company, SA Gateway, one of South Africa’s leading ISPs.
“We hope to have this bundled solution – which will enhance the Oplink solution – ready during the first quarter of 2015. We believe this simple to use, affordable Oplink solution is going to be a hit in South Africa. Millions and millions of South Africans are unable to afford home security and alarm systems – and Oplink offers a very low barrier to entry.”
He says marketing and sales will be conducted via Esquire’s e-commerce web site, The Virtual Network (VRN), and other selected retail sites.
