The .cricket domain name has opened its doors to the public, with Web addresses ending in .cricket now available to cricket fans worldwide.

“Famous Four Media is delighted to be launching this exciting sports domain ending,” says Andy Churley, chief marketing officer of Famous Four Media.

“.cricket is one of the first Sports domain endings to be released and is one of our favourite registries at Famous Four Media.”
Cricket is the second most-watched sport in the world with between 2-billion and 3-billion fans globally.

“Cricket fans are the most dedicated and passionate fans of any sport in the world,” Churley says. “Cricket is more than just a sport; it’s a way of life. This fanaticism was nicely summed up by the Nobel Prize winning playwright Harold Pinter, who said ‘I tend to think that cricket is the greatest thing that God ever created on earth – certainly greater than sex, although sex isn’t too bad either’.”

.cricket domain names are expected to be popular with national, regional and local cricket clubs and teams, schools and colleges, players, coaches and officials and, of course, the fans

Famous Four Media plans to launch 13 more domain extension in 2015, including .racing and .win, to complement the three domain endings (.bid, .trade and .webcam) that it launched in 2014.
