First Distribution has been awarded VMware Service Provider Programme (VSPP) Aggregator of the Year for the Southern Africa and WECA region.
The company, a value added distributor for both VMware’s perpetual and service provider licensing, received the awards at the vendor’s recent 2013/2014 annual partner award ceremony hosted in Johannesburg last week.
“We are ecstatic to have received this award as it shows that our vision of “cloud computing” and our desire to empower our business partners to build and sell the best of breed services for their customers in the cloud is all in alignment,” states Chris Richardson, MSP Hosting Manager at First Distribution.
“We have an excellent VSPP Team within First Distribution, who really are the glue that holds our hosting business together. I firmly believe it’s their dedication, coupled with the support we have received from the local VMware team that has placed us in a position to be able to win this award based on the success we have had in the VSPP environment.”
VSPP enables the success of a public, private and hybrid cloud by providing customers with an OpEx strategy for investing in VMware infrastructure on a pay as you go, pay as you grow consumption model. VSPP is the ideal solution for various types of VMware partners who offer hosted services to third parties, such as infrastructure as a service (IaaS) providers, cloud service providers, application service providers (ASPs), Internet service providers (ISPs) and platform as a service (PaaS) providers.
“First Distribution has truly shown its dedication and commitment to the VMware brand through consistent success with customers as well as investment into developing skills, resources and partners,” says Mark Reynolds, Partner and General Business Lead at VMware. “Their success around the VSPP portfolio highlights this commitment as they continue to play a big role in helping our customers move to the cloud, embrace the software-defined datacentre as well as plot their path to the hybrid cloud.”
