The collection of new Casio G-Shock watches, the GB-6900B and GB-X6900B, are equipped with Bluetooth low-energy technology (v4.0) that lets the watches exchange information with a smartphone. Compared with previous models of similar capabilities, the new models are able to establish connections with a phone more quickly.

Basic functions include incoming call and email alert, phone finder, link loss alert, time adjustment, calendar event notification and reminder alert. The models enable two-way operability between a paired smartphone and the watch. Users can now control a smartphone from their watch and vice versa.

G-Shock basic features remain including 200-metre water resistance and high-intensity LED back lighting. The watch’s buttons can also be used to control playback, pause operations and volume level of the phone’s music player.

The top of the range GB-X6900B, with a large watchcase to emphasise toughness, adds to the previous notification features by offering richer, two-way operability with a smartphone. A button on the watch can be used to operate smartphone applications and a paired smartphone can be used to set features on the watch such as the alarm, countdown timer and world time.
