With only one week to go until entries for the first dedicated South African Doodle 4 Google competition closes on 22 October, Google is offering to collect drawings from schools who may be unable to use the postal system due to current strike disruptions.

Learners can also scan and upload their entries at www.google.co.za/doodle4google if they have Internet access.

Once all entries have been collected, local celebrity judges will pick their favourite Doodles across four age categories, before letting the public vote for the country-wide winner to appear on the Google South Africa home page.

Judges include DJ Fresh, author John van De Ruit, Springbok great Pat Lambie; Survivor champ Graham Jenneker, music diva Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Spud star Sven Ruygrok, and media and tech entrepreneur Seth Rotherham.

Public voting will start on 12 November on www.google.co.za/doodle4google. Not only will the winning child have their artwork seen by millions of South Africans, the winning school will receive a R100,000 technology grant.
