The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) has joined a host of brands and organisations by launching The SA Government Application on Mxit.

The South African mobile social network, with millions of active users, enables the government to dynamically engage young South Africans in a chat-centric way that is relevant to them.

Since its launch, The SA Government application has been downloaded by 130 000 subscribers and GCIS has used the platform to keep users updated about the Presidential Inauguration.

GCIS will also host on-going live conversations with young people about South Africa’s transition from one government to the next, allowing decision makers and officials to respond to the questions, suggestions and concerns of young South Africans.

The application can be found on the Mxit App store by searching for “SA Government”. Applications for other government functions and initiatives are also being planned and will be launched later in this year.
