Kathy Gibson at HP World SA, Johannesburg – HP has launched a new portfolio of cloud products and services in South Africa that help companies to build, manage and consume workloads in hybrid IT environments.

The group plans to invest more than $1-billion over the next two years on cloud-related products, engineering and professional services.

HP Helion includes HP cloud offerings as well as new OpenStack products and professional services under a unified portfolio.

The company is also extending its commitment to OpenStack technology and hybrid IT delivery to encompass traditional IT, public, private and managed clouds.

As a founding member of the OpenStack Foundation and a leading member in the OpenStack and Cloud Foundry communities, HP develops technologies in line with these communities that address the enterprise IT requirement.

As part of the Helion portfolio, HP is introducing several new cloud-based products and services, including:
* HP Helio OpenStack Community Edition;
* HP Helio Development Platform;
* HP OpenStack Technology Indemnification Programme; and
* HP Helion Open Stack Professional Services.
