Huawei has announced the launch its new-generation full-HD intelligent desktop phone, the Huawei eSpace 8950, to the South African market.

The growing popularity of intelligent desktop phones has changed the way businesses communicate with each other, and have inadvertently created a demand for richer user experience coupled with aesthetic appeal.

Huawei’s eSpace 8950 is much more than an IP phone or a video phone. It offers a full-HD 1080p camera as well as full-band voice codec with a sampling rate as high as 48 kHz, providing the user with a truly immersive experience. These cutting edge functions enable a HDMI-based video conference platform in which the user can project the content from the phone to a large screen interface, thus allowing the user to host a video conference.

Its dual GE ports reduce desktop network ports allows for the support of both wired and wireless access, to facilitate borderless mobility.
With smart context-aware technology, the Huawei eSpace 8950 provides continuous communication, even if the user moves away from the device. The voice function automatically relocates to a Bluetooth headset when a user wears it. If the user leaves the office, voice automatically switches to the user’s mobile phone.

It runs using the full-touch Android operating system, so in addition to built-in apps like the calculator, calendar, clock, email, electronic album and browser, users can also install their own third-party apps such as the news, weather or a media player.

The phone also automatically adjusts the transmission rate based on network conditions to ensure high voice and video quality, even when faced with up to 20% packet loss in bandwidth.

In traditional environments, enterprises usually deploy huge numbers IP phones where users face a challenging task of configuring one device after another. Moreover, IP phones are connected through network cables that require massive amounts of switch ports, thus increasing deployment and maintenance costs. The Huawei eSpace 8950 allows for automatic deployment and configuration, which simplifies device operation and maintenance.

“Huawei’s eSpace 8950 answers the call for true mobility in enterprises,” says Eman Liu, president of Huawei Enterprise Business Group for the eastern and southern Africa region. “It improves office collaboration among enterprise staff, partners, and their customers – anywhere via any device, with consistency.”

Huawei has a solid track record of more than 20 years in the communications field and has developed multiple industry-leading converged voice, data, video and service flow technologies. Upholding the philosophy of “embodying user experience design into research and development”, Huawei offers premium quality and consistent device design and is committed to providing wide-ranging and efficient ICT solutions and services to enterprise customers.
