Mark McGowan has officially joined JSE-listed Metrofile Holdings Limited, as a director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective 1 August 2014.

According to Graham Wackrill, CEO of Metrofile Holdings Limited, McGowan is well known to Metrofile having been the audit partner of the Group’s operating subsidiaries some years ago and subsequently having undertaken various projects for the Group.

McGowan, a Chartered Accountant, leaves auditing and consulting firm R W Irish – Alliott Incorporated where he was a Director over the past 18 years.

Wackrill says McGowan’s business experience gained, paired with the fact that he has established an understanding of the industry and the dynamics of the business from working with Metrofile in the past, made him the ideal candidate for the role. “At Metrofile, the requirements of the CFO position extend beyond the typical responsibilities, so his skills-set will be invaluable.”

The appointment of McGowan follows the resignation of previous CFO Richard Buttle, who will remain with Metrofile in a supportive capacity until 31 October 2014 to ensure a smooth transition.

“It is also advantageous that we have previously worked together which makes for an easier transition into his new role”, says Buttle. “Since McGowan accepted the role in March 2014, he has had various strategic meetings with the board covering items at a high level such as the 2015 strategy, budget, business unit activities and various other elements.”

“McGowan’s appointment will benefit the company in terms of bringing in new ideas and a fresh approach to the business. As a result we are confident that McGowan is well positioned, as part of the team, to take the company to the next level in the future,” concludes Wackrill.
