The ability to find answers to strategic business questions quickly offers a competitive advantage to organisations of any size in any industry.
The latest refresh of Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine, an engineered system for business analytics, includes Intel Xeon processors customised for Oracle business analytics workloads, supporting 50% faster clock speed, 50% more processing cores and 50% more memory compared to the previous generation.
The increased processing power and capacity enables organisations of all sizes to compete better by delivering answers to the most pressing business questions with unmatched speed, intelligence and simplicity. Oracle also announced certification of Oracle Database In-Memory with Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine, expanding the scope of in-memory analytics to include the full capabilities of the Oracle Database.
With up to 3Tb of memory per machine, Exalytics In-Memory Machine X4-4 enables caching of analytic data marts entirely in memory, delivering speed-of- thought analytics on existing data warehouses and systems of record.
Oracle has introduced Exalytics In-Memory Machine X4-4, designed to deliver high-performance analytics for business intelligence and enterprise performance management applications.
The new release features upgraded hardware powered by four Intel Xeon E7-8895 v2 series processors, customised by Intel for Oracle Engineered Systems. This processor has the ability to dynamically scale the frequency and number of cores with Oracle software to maximise performance to address business analytics workloads that require faster single threaded performance as well as large levels of parallelism.
The Exalytics In-Memory Machine X4-4 supports up to 3Tb of memory, 4.8Tb of PCI Flash and 7.2Tb of hard disks – increasing capacity in every dimension.
Oracle Database In-Memory is now certified for all Oracle Exalytics configurations. Combined with the up to 3Tb of memory available per machine, entire reporting data marts can be cached in memory and provide fast analysis without forklift upgrades.
Oracle continues to invest in Exalytics In-Memory Software, providing several Oracle Essbase in-memory features, including patented lockless algorithms, Oracle Exalytics-specific thread pool and resource management, and background multiuser write that helps dramatically improve overall Oracle Essbase performance and scalability.
Exalytics In-Memory Machine X4-4 is a complete solution featuring updated best-in-class hardware, an enterprise business intelligence platform, and in-memory analytics software, pre-integrated to enable a lower total cost of ownership while increasing performance.
Exalytics X4-4 is engineered to support the widest range of reporting and analytics capabilities, out of the box, with support for new releases of
Oracle Endeca Information Discovery, Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite, Oracle Business Intelligence Applications, Oracle Real-Time Decisions, Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database and Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management, speeding time-to-value.
Oracle Exalytics continues to enjoy strong customer adoption worldwide. Hundreds of companies of varying sizes are deploying multiple units to create powerful analytics platforms dealing with significant data volumes and analytics needs.
Oracle Exalytics has found adoption in large-scale business intelligence deployments as well as in small but nimble organisations requiring real-time analytics and a high degree of interactivity.
“The pace of business continues to accelerate and with it comes the need to uncover business insights rapidly,” says Balaji Yelamanchili, senior vice president, analytics and performance management products, Oracle.
“Oracle’s Exalytics In-Memory Machine X4-4 with enhanced capacity and greater memory represents a flexible foundation on which organisations can base their analytics needs in order to benefit from extreme performance and a compelling business user experience.”
“Time to insight is a business imperative today, and the analytic applications utilised include a range of workloads. Some require a high degree of parallel processing and some require high speed, focused execution,” said Shannon Poulin, VP and GM Enterprise IT Solutions Group, Intel Corporation.
“The customised Intel Xeon processor E7-8895 v2, when coupled with Oracle software enhancements, allows Oracle to deliver their latest generation Oracle Exalytics engineered system with the performance needed to achieve a competitive advantage.”
