Samsung announced the launch of their latest application on the Samsung Smart TV SmartHub, the ever popular game of MONOPOLY. The game – which is one of the world’s best-selling and most-loved games – is now available as an exclusive free download on Samsung’s SmartHub to play on its range of Smart TVs, while using Samsung’s Galaxy line of smartphones to help create a converged gaming experience.
“We are especially excited about how the MONOPOLY Smart TV game app shows consumers the integrated lifestyle experience between a Samsung Galaxy smartphone and Smart TV. While the TV screen displays the game board, players use their smartphones to roll the dice and view other relevant information,” says Justin Shaw, business leader for Visual Display at Samsung South Africa.
With more than 275-million games sold worldwide, Hasbro’s MONOPOLY game holds a special place in the heart of many South Africans.
“Technology is constantly evolving and changing the way in which people consume content and interact with one another. This is even truer when it comes to the way families relax together, with many children playing games on their handheld devices in their rooms. The MONOPOLY Smart TV game app will see families using the latest technology and innovation to spend quality time together,” adds Shaw.
The first 10 000 MONOPOLY Smart TV game apps will be available to download at no cost and as such, Samsung customers are encouraged to download it as soon as possible, through the Samsung SmartHUB. In addition, people who are looking at buying a new 46-inch or bigger Samsung Smart TV will also be automatically entered into a competition to win a trip to one of the World’s Seven Wonders of their choosing.
“Being part of the digital lifestyle does not mean that families need to sacrifice spending time with one another. There are many apps that allow for a fun, family experience around the living room and the new MONOPOLY Smart TV game app is definitely leading the change,” concludes Shaw.
