Schneider Electric has introduced the Back-UPS 500 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to the local market. This move is of great significance in an environment where protecting electronic equipment from damage due to power outages, surges and spikes is a home and business necessity.
According to Gina Santos, distribution manager for Southern Africa at Schneider Electric’s IT business unit, the Back-UPS 500 provides affordable power protection for both personal computers and networking applications, and features line-interactive technology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR).
“AVR instantly adjusts high and low voltages to safe levels for your electronics, so you can work indefinitely through sustained fluctuations. The APC by Schneider Electric’s Back-UPS is specifically designed to protect your equipment and network connection in harsh power environments, ensuring maximum productivity and work efficiency,” she explains.
The product carries the part number BX500CI in Southern Africa and its power button/ LED indicator and audible alarms allow the user to quickly understand the unit and power status through visual and easy to hear signals.
A “three” battery backup and surge protected IEC sockets keep critical electronic equipment running when the power goes out or fluctuates at dangerous levels, so you can protect your work and save your data.
“The Back-UPS 500’s push button circuit breaker provides for easy recovery from circuit overloads and protects your fuse box and electronics from electrical damage,” says Santos.
In addition, the product features automatic diagnostic testing, that is a periodic battery self-test provides early detection of a battery that needs to be replaced, ensuring the user’s unit is ready when needed.
“Easy and straightforward to use with a ‘one step’ battery connector, as well as free technical phone and online support, the Back UPS provides the customer peace of mind,” adds Santos.
