The Road to the Digital Enterprise is Software AG’s motto for CeBIT this year, and the company demonstrates how enterprises can use cutting-edge software solutions to accelerate their digital transformation. Software AG is presenting its Intelligent Business Operations Platform (IBO) that monitors and analyses real-time data streams for significant business events driving real-time, intelligent business decisions.
Intelligent Business Operations then enables the immediate implementation of these decisions in automated business processes. This flexibility needs to be reflected in the enterprise IT architecture management. To facilitate this, Software AG also announced the integration of their ARIS/Alfabet product suites.
With these new products, Software AG is presenting unique software solutions that combine business decisions, business processes and architecture management – and thereby mark another milestone along the road to the digital enterprise.
“Not every company is a digital enterprise yet,” stated Karl-Heins Streibich, CEO of Software AG, “but every company needs to become digital to successfully manage the current paradigm shift and differentiate itself from the
competition.”
Reducing CO2 emissions with intelligent business operations
The IBO platform enables visual analysis of process and business data. But the real added value from big data analysis is generated by the specific business responses implemented as a result.
The IBO platform is the outcome of a three-year innovation development process and Software AG’s acquisition strategy. Businesses and public service providers as well as end-users benefit from clearly leaner business processes and substantially lower resource consumption.
Symbiosis of IBO and business process management
By integrating IBO and big data management, the IBO platform is not only able to analyse huge data volumes and data streams in real time. It also recognises trends and deviations from known patterns and offers opportunities for
integrating historic and context data in the analyses.
Furthermore, the new platform enables the analysis and visualisation of process, infrastructure and business data. It also allows customers to connect the insights and information gained with targeted, real-time measures to influence operating business processes.
A logistics company that provides services for shipping lines is an excellent customer example for the intelligent evaluation and analysis of large data volumes. The company processes a wide variety of data such as ship movements, weather data, and harbor information such as the availability of terminals and port facilities.
Using this data in realtime optimises important steering factors such as ship course and speed. Significant resource savings can be realised in addition to the business process optimisation – up to 1 500 tonnes of oil per year. This helps the company reduce its CO2 emissions as well.
Collaborative process analysis
Another key aspect on the road to the digital enterprise is the collaborative analysis of companywide processes and their anchoring in the existing IT architecture. To do this, business and IT need to speak the same language. After
the acquisition of Alfabet AG, Software AG combined the ARIS and Alfabet products into a new strategic platform to unite business processes and architecture management.
This solution simplifies all planning activities within a company, from business decisions to their implementation in the IT landscape. Lower costs, higher quality, faster reaction times and proactive error correction make ARIS integrated with Alfabet a fundamental tool for collaboratively implementing the digital enterprise.
