Standard Bank customers are now able to do more from their mobile devices, with new features that enhance the functionality already available on the banking apps.
These new features – including the ability to manage loyalty points and insurance portfolios, as well as a new international share trading service – are said to represent a step-change from mobile banking to personal financial management.
Customers using Android and Apple smartphones can now link their UCount Rewards profile, view their rewards point balance, and learn more about the various ways to collect and redeem rewards. Bringing these features to the convenience of a smartphone allows UCount members to get the most value from the programme.
Customers are also able to link their Standard Bank Insurance profile to the smartphone app – to view policy details, request pdf versions of their policies via e-mail, and view hints and tips on better managing their insurance profile. To make claims and amend policy details, customers can request a call-back from the Insurance team; they can also track the progress of claims for certain policies.
Smartphone app users can now open AccessSave accounts directly from the mobile app. This signals the first step on Standard Bank’s journey to enable the opening of a range of Standard Bank products on mobile devices.
Customers using Android or Apple tablets also benefit from the enhancements. The UCount offering is further expanded on the tablet app, to include direct links to the virtual mall and travel mall. Here, customers can instantly redeem their points for everything from airtime and electronic devices, to children’s items and airline tickets.
Our tablet users have for some time been able to buy and sell equities on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. We are now extending this to 29 stock exchanges across the globe with the integration of the new Webtrader feature.
Webtrader gives customers unprecedented access to diversify their portfolio and maximise returns across global markets, as well as benefit from a set of embedded tools for technical analysis and risk management.
“Standard Bank’s smartphone and tablet apps are continuously enhanced to bring greater value and convenience to our customers,” says Magnus Taljaard, head of Mobile Banking at Standard Bank. “We are focused on helping our customers embed banking into their day-to-day pursuits, when and where they need it.”
With Standard Bank’s apps for smartphones and tablets, customers are now able to perform a wide range of banking and financial management tasks “on the go”, from accessing their business and personal accounts, to insurance, wealth management, and online share trading. All of these digital financial services are placed at customers’ fingertips through a single digital account.
“We will continue to roll out features for both our tablet and smartphone apps with the objective of making banking and financial management a seamless part of our customers’ lives,” says Taljaard.
