Power boost with new plant

A 100 MW solar plant launched near the town of Pofadder in the Northern Cape Province will be capable of providing clean and sustainable power to approximately 80 000 homes in South Africa. The project is a partnership between Abengoa, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), and the KaXu Community Trust and was last week inaugurated by Minister of Economic Development, Ebrahim Patel, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises, Bulelani Magwanishe, Premier of the Northern Cape, Silvia Lucas, executives of Abengoa and IDC and representatives of the local community.
