The annual Teradata User Group conference is confirmed for 6 February 2014 at the Johannesburg Country Club in Woodmead, Johannesburg. The conference is themed Unleashing the Power of Data and will offer delegates a look at the latest international developments in how to use data more effectively to drive competitive business advantage.

“Businesses are feeling the heat of a difficult economic climate and customers with raised expectations. Data, and the insights it can offer, offer them the opportunity to deliver the enhanced customer experiences that are the key to loyalty and profitability – while improving operational effectiveness and return on investment,” says Hendrik Blignaut, Enterprise Intelligence Solutions Teradata executive at Bytes Universal Systems, the sole local distributor of Teradata’s products in sub-Saharan Africa.

“Teradata has always been a leader in this field, and continues to set the pace in today’s data-driven economy.”

Along with growing understanding of data’s potential, it’s a fact of life that the volume of data, both structured and unstructured, is growing exponentially. The challenge is not to get data, but to use it effectively to deliver customer and operational insights.

“A company’s competitiveness is increasingly driven by its advanced analytics capabilities—how well it can use analytics to read its customers and meet their needs,” says Blignaut.

“Analytics also has a key role to play in helping business to integrate their marketing efforts with their marketing operations. This integrated management of the marketing function is another area in which Teradata leads.”

Confirmed speakers for the 2014 Teradata User Group conference include Dr Stephen Brobst, Teradata CIO and Martin Wilcox, head of the Teradata Centre of Excellence for Big Data.
