TruTeq Devices, which focusses on providing wireless connectivity solutions to all market sectors, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement that will see it introduce South Africa’s first fixed wireless telephone with built-in 3G capability – and built-in WiFi gateway.
This is according to Derick Roberts, CEO of TruTeq Devices, who confirmed that the company had signed a deal with UK-based Eltron, which makes it the sole distributor of the Eltron 72 fixed wireless phone in sub-Saharan Africa.
The Eltron 72, which also boasts an inbuilt radio, comes with a multitude of services, including voice, data and SMS capabilities.
“This leading-edge product opens up huge potential – and huge markets – for mobile and fixed line operators alike. It is also perfectly aimed at frustrated home and business users who either cannot get a fixed line, or are experiencing ongoing downtime due to the theft of copper cables. Then, of course, it is a perfect solution for remote users, such as farmers – who are unable to install traditional phones.”
Getting the Eltron 72 “wireless phone and business solution” up and running requires no cables – it just requires “the insertion of a specialised SIM card”.
