With crime in South Africa continuing to rise, wireless specialist TruTeq Devices is to increase its focus on providing wireless solutions to protect the local farming sector.

The company provides wireless connectivity solutions to all market sectors, including the likes of Eskom and Sasol.

TruTeq Devices has being providing various solutions for farmers over the past few years. The company recently launched a cost-effective wireless alarm system.

Derick Roberts, CEO of TruTeq Devices, says the new campaign would be “far more concentrated” than previous campaigns.

While it is claimed by the police that crime is under control, statistics show that the murder rate has risen to 16 259 cases per year, according to The Transvaal Agricultural Union of South Africa (TAU SA), and there are currently almost 45 murders per day.

Farm murders in particular increased by 34% to 68 in 2012/2013 compared to the 50 murders in 2011/2012. Farm attacks increased from 112 cases to 176 cases.
