Ukuvuma Solutions, an established South African provider of ICT Solutions and support to the engineering, mining and construction market, has announced that it will open a representative office in Ghana to meet what the company’s management describe as “a growing market ripe with opportunity and eager to acquire reliable technology”.
Jason Smit, director – Microsoft Technologies at Ukuvuma Solutions, says there is ample opportunity for the right service provider to help position businesses in Africa to extract maximum value from their projects.

“Our mandate is to use our knowledge of the market, of technology and of technical environments, as well as our partnerships, to empower our clients in Africa and provide them with additional services in maintenance and support.

“This will help them by streamlining project lifecycles so they can take on more projects, meet regulatory requirements at the lowest possible cost, manage CAD files with complex structures and much more,” says Smit.

Following a thorough market evaluation and socio-political and economic analysis of several candidate regions, Ukuvuma Solutions have decided upon Ghana as the first port of call in its Africa expansion strategy. This is in line with research which confirms this country, along with Kenya and Tanzania, as amongst Africa’s top in terms of Internet usage and ICT development.

Ukuvuma Solutions was established in 2004 and is a proud Microsoft Partner on Microsoft Office 365 Deployment, Windows Azure and Microsoft SharePoint with experience and expertise in these technologies.
The company is also a Cadac Organice Partner, which is the leader in Engineering Solutions on Microsoft SharePoint for Document Control and Project Collaboration.

According to Smit the company has made its mark within the domestic market, its reputation as an ally with global enterprises such as Cadac Organice, IBM and Microsoft. Given the increasing demand for quality Solutions, reliable integration and consistent support across the Continent, the timing for the establishment of a representative office within West Africa is ideal.

“Ukuvuma Solutions is looking forward to building its brand across Africa and become one of the leading IT companies in Africa.

“The vision of the company has led it to identify some of the challenges that African companies face and is looking forward to helping them solve these problems by delivering them quality services ranging from ECM to BI, workflow and process automation.

“Another reason is that the South African Market is very competitive and this competition has led Ukuvuma Solutions to create another market where its services and products will gain recognition,” he adds.

The newly established representative office will link up with the company’s head office in South Africa, the site responsible for all aspects of operation in Ghana.

From this base Ukuvuma Solutions will target several industries, including mining and metals, equipment manufacturing, building and construction, oil and gas, as well as processing and power, with the rollout of Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365 and Cadac Organice.

“These are the technologies that will solve the most challenges that the company has identified in Africa,” Smit adds.

While the company’s management acknowledge the obstacles of computer illiteracy and lack of access to ICT blocking economic, civic and political development in Africa in general, the company believes its operations will add immediate and lasting value.
