Value-added distributor Westcon-Comztek has been appointed as an official distributor of Avaya’s Scopia video conferencing solutions. The partnership extends South Africa as well as Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique, Mauritius, Madagascar and Malawi.

No stranger to Avaya, Westcon-Comztek is an existing distributor for the communications giant.

According to Westcon Communications Solutions business practice director, Tiens Lange, the Avaya Scopia Video Conferencing announcement not only builds on a successful and fruitful relationship between vendor and distributor, but also provides customers a clear path to include video and visual communications as an integrated element of an overall unified communications strategy.

“The increasing popularity of visual, and in that video conferencing, as a solution for firstly driving down the costs of inter-branch visits by personnel and secondly as a means to assist with connecting mobile workers, no matter where they are based, is not something that can be ignored,” states Lange.

“Today Avaya and its Scopia portfolio of communications tools and technologies, have an excellent reputation in the industry and are widely used by organisations looking to grow their video conferencing footprint without having to completely replace their existing technologies,” he adds.

Lange adds that the Scopia product portfolio is made up of a series of solutions perfect for individuals as well as groups, in both small and enterprise sized customer environments. The solution has been designed to assist businesses with connecting disparate technologies in video conferencing environments, achieving this through its technology agnostic approach.

This allows Avaya partners to expand customer environments, irrespective of the types of equipment used, without the need to rip and replace existing solutions.

According to Avaya, the company has invested significantly in designing and delivering video interoperability between the Scopia products and video systems/endpoints that are currently connected to Avaya UC platforms, such as the widely popular Avaya Aura and IP Office solutions.

“Westcon-Comztek is one of Avaya’s key distributors in the African region. Adding the Scopia Video Conferencing solution to their portfolio will allow our partners in the region to deliver Avaya’s full solution stack and portfolio to customers including unified communications, video, networking and contact centre solutions. In turn delivering more value to our customer base in South Africa,” says Tanya Lobo, director Distribution Channel, for Global Growth Markets at Avaya.

In order to qualify as an Avaya Scopia distributor, Westcon-Comztek had to meet stringent criteria including the training and certifications to be able to deliver the Radvision Scopia solution. Resellers will also be able to take advantage of all of the value-added services they have come to expect from the company.

Products and solutions are available from Westcon-Comztek with immediate effect.
